A transparent medium for modeling paintwork, a preparation for mixing with paint.
Responsibility details are not available.
A transparent medium is an auxiliary preparation that is added to paint. After it the coat becomes more translucent, so that what is beneath it shows through. The modeler makes use of that for glazes, for fine transitions between shades and everywhere a new shade is only meant to tint the base, not to cover it. The medium differs from a thinner in what it is for: a thinner adjusts the consistency, a medium changes the covering power.
The medium is mixed with paint in the ratio the manufacturer gives on the packaging; the greater the proportion of medium, the more translucent the application. Mix the blend thoroughly and try it on an offcut, because the result depends on the color of the base just as much as on the shade you are applying. Work in thin coats and let them become tacky between one another. Translucent coats add up, so the shade can be stepped up gradually, whereas taking it back is only possible with difficulty.
Mix only with paints of the range the medium is intended for, otherwise the blend may curdle. Wash and degrease the base before painting. Choose a thinner, if one is needed, according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, that is one intended for this range. Close the container carefully after use.
The medium alone is supplied. Paints, thinner and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
