A plastic kit of the four-engined turboprop Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport aircraft in 1:200 scale from the Japanese company Hasegawa. The box is issued in the form of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in the gray scheme, and its designation gives the KC variant, that is the form able to refuel in flight. The 1:200 scale suits collectors who want large transport machines in a display case at a reasonable size.
The Hercules is one of the longest-built military transport aircraft of all. A high-set wing, four turboprop engines, a rugged undercarriage and a rear cargo ramp made it a universal machine for carrying cargo as well as people, and that from short and unpaved strips. The H version is among the most widespread and serves with a number of users all over the world, including Japan. The gray scheme replaced an older, more conspicuous scheme on the Japanese machines and is their typical appearance today.
In 1:200 scale every irregularity shows, so fill the seams carefully and sand them down, especially on the joint of the wing with the fuselage. Gray schemes need an even coat: thin the paint more and apply it in several thin layers. Mask the clear parts so that they stay clean. Before the decals, coat the model with a gloss varnish, and once they are dry unify the surface with a matte or semi-gloss varnish according to the look you want. Bring out the panel lines with only a very light wash, otherwise the model looks overdrawn at this scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
