This item is the color counterpart of the standard deck accessory for the largest Japanese battleship in 1:200 scale, with the difference that the surfaces are done in a dark shade. The choice between the light and the dark form is one of the first things that sets the overall character of the finished work for the builder of a large Japanese ship. The maker is Artwox Model.
During the war the Imperial Japanese Navy played the deck surfaces of its surface units down visually, so that a ship would be less conspicuous from the air. In modeling that has one more consequence: against a dark base the light items of the superstructure, the ship's armament and the metal parts all stand out far better. The model therefore looks more contrasting than in the light variant and holds the attention better up close.
Fit it in good light; on a dark surface it is harder to see whether an edge has really seated. The surface must be free of adhesive residue and dust, because every grain shows through a thin layer. Work from the centerline out to the sides and keep comparing the lines with the outline of the hull. Glue the light items of the superstructure last, so that the difference between them and the deck stands out.
The ship kit itself is obtained separately and is not in the package.
