The Excel conversion ruler is a modeling aid for converting dimensions between the real subject and a model. It saves you the arithmetic every time you finish a part yourself.
Responsibility details are not available.
A conversion ruler is an aid that turns a measured dimension straight into a dimension in the scale you build in. Instead of dividing the dimension of the real subject and rounding the result, you lay the ruler against it and read the dimension off. It is a tool whose point you appreciate the moment you stop building only to the instructions and start reworking or finishing parts yourself from a drawing or a photograph.
Typical use
Which particular scales the ruler converts and what its overall length is are not given by the manufacturer in the designation, so please check that on the box if you build exclusively in one less usual scale. The second thing is the principle itself: a conversion ruler is an aid for quick orientation. Where a mating surface and tenths of a millimeter are at stake, calipers and arithmetic are still more reliable.
An improvised substitute is a sheet of paper with a table of conversions or a calculator on a phone. Both work, but they slow you down and invite an error by a factor of ten, which during a build is the most common and the most expensive mistake. A ruler gives the answer at once and over the drawing, where you need it.
For modelers who rework, convert and build from scratch, for builders of dioramas and for anyone who works with drawings and period photographs.
