1:48 Spitfire Mk.Vc Weekend is a narrowed photo-etched set of the Zoom line from Eduard, cut for the simplified boxing of the Spitfire Mk.Vc model in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs to Eduard's Zoom line, that is a narrower selection from the full photo-etched set. The parts are color printed and aimed at the places that stay visible on a finished model, above all in the cockpit. The suffix in the name refers to the simpler boxing of the same model, for which photo-etched parts are bought separately. That is where this set makes the most sense: you get detail comparable with the richer edition without buying the whole kit again.
The Spitfire Mk.V was the most numerous version of the whole type, and the letter c in the designation stands for the so-called universal wing. That allowed the armament to be changed according to the needs of the unit, from a combination of cannons and machine guns up to four twenty-millimeter cannons. The aircraft was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine of the 45 series, and the machines deployed in the Mediterranean and in North Africa also received bulky dust filters under the nose, which gave them an unmistakable silhouette.
Offer the photo-etched parts up dry in the cockpit before gluing, because the plastic fuselage halves have to close without force. Where a photo-etched part goes over molded detail, sand the original relief smooth rather than leaving it, otherwise the part will not bed down and will keep coming loose. Do not overspray the color printed areas, as a matte clear would take away the depth of the print. On the edges of the cockpit, where a photo-etched part touches the clear canopy, use a low-fogging super glue, as the ordinary kind clouds the transparency.
