An injection-molded plastic kit of the American twin-engine bomber Martin Type 166 in 1:72 scale from Azur. It is the late variant of the real aircraft in Dutch colonial service. Decals for Dutch machines are included in the box.
The Martin Type 166 was the export development of the well-known American B-10 series bomber, one of the first all-metal monoplane bombers with radial engines and a characteristic glazed canopy running along the top of the fuselage. Machines of this version served with the air force of the Netherlands East Indies and were committed in the opening fighting of the war in the Pacific against the Japanese advance.
The fuselage of this kit is split horizontally, which makes fitting the interior easier, so align and glue the parts carefully to keep the seam as small as possible. Use thin modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints where needed. The extensive cockpit glazing stands out after masking and spraying, and the surfaces should be treated with a primer before painting and covered with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
