The plastic kit JLTV M1278A1 with the M153 CROWS weapon station and the Mk 19 grenade launcher in 1:35 scale from the Sabre Model company, in the extended Premium edition.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern American JLTV tactical vehicle in the M1278A1 version, armed with the remotely operated M153 CROWS weapon station with the Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher. Sabre Model specializes in this family of vehicles, and its tooling is among the finer in 1:35 scale. The edition marked as Premium is fuller than the basic release of the same model, but you will find the actual extent of the extras only on the box and in the instructions.
The JLTV, that is, the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, is an American light tactical vehicle introduced as the successor to older armored off-road vehicles. It puts the emphasis on resistance to mines and improvised charges while keeping mobility and the option of air transport. The M1278A1 version is a heavy weapons carrier, that is, the variant adapted for fire support. The M153 CROWS station is a remotely operated weapon package that lets the gunner aim and fire from the protected inside of the vehicle; the crew works with the image from a daylight and a thermal camera. The Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher of 40 mm caliber is the standard weapon this station can carry.
Finish and paint the chassis and the axles before you set the body on the vehicle. Build the weapon station separately, as it has small optical parts that are better painted away from the model. Modern American vehicles are usually worn in a uniform matte shade, so the result stands or falls on a clean spray job and fine accentuation of the shadows. Hold back on heavy weathering; light dust on the wheels, the wheel arch and the lower surfaces and discreet accentuation of the panel gaps suits it better.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
