Rolls-Royce Trent engine nacelles for the Airbus A330 in 1:144 scale. An add-on for an airliner kit, not a standalone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set from LACI that replaces the engine nacelles of a plastic kit of the Airbus A330 in 1:144 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an add-on for a modeler who is building a particular engine variant of this twin-engine wide-body aircraft. The nacelles are in the closed form, that is, the way the aircraft looks in flight and standing on the apron.
The Airbus A330 is a twin-engine wide-body aircraft that entered service in the first half of the 1990s and is still one of the pillars of long-haul fleets. The customer could choose from several powerplants for it, and it is exactly by the engine that the machines of individual operators differ at first glance. The Rolls-Royce Trent is one of the options offered for the A330, and its nacelle has a characteristic shape and intake arrangement. When a modeler builds the machine of a particular airline, the correct engine type belongs among the most conspicuous details an expert notices.
Dry-fit the parts against the wing pylons first. Cut the original plastic nacelles away in small steps and sand the cut flat with abrasive paper on a hard backing, so that the new nacelle seats without a gap. Watch the angle and the axis of the nacelle against the wing; on a twin-engine aircraft any asymmetry shows at first glance. Paint the inside of the intake and the exhaust nozzle before the final gluing. Bond plastic with cement for plastic; for a joint with another material reach for super glue and fill the joint with putty if needed.
