1:72 Curtiss P-40N-20/N-40 Late Kittyhawk IV is a finished instrument panel for the late production blocks of the P-40N in 1:72 scale. It is set into the cockpit in place of the plastic part.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a finished part for the cockpit from Yahu Models, not a kit. The panel has the instruments in raised relief and color printing from the factory and in the model it replaces the plastic part from the kit.
Reckon with fine work: in 1:72 scale the instrument panel of a fighter is a genuinely small part. Do not start on it without tweezers and good light, and dose the glue with a pin. The reward is a cockpit that looks faithful even under a magnifier, without your having to paint the individual dial faces. Against a decal, both the softening and the risk of silvering appearing under the film fall away.
The Curtiss P-40N was the last large production version of the P-40 and in British and Allied nomenclature was designated Kittyhawk Mk.IV. The late N-20 to N-40 blocks closed out production and differed from the early lightened series in equipment and in details of the cockpit. That is exactly why the brand keeps the panels for the early, middle and late blocks apart; before buying it is worth finding out which block your kit and your chosen scheme represent.
Thin or remove the plastic panel from the kit, so that the depth of the cockpit is not reduced. Work with tweezers over a mat. It is glued in spots with cyanoacrylate or with a flexible glue for photo-etched parts. Paint the interior before you fit the panel, and do not spray matte varnish over it; it would suppress the shine of the dial faces.
