This resin set from Quickboost, a brand of the Czech maker Aires, brings exactly cast air scoops for cooling for a model of the two-seat trainer version of the Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the coarser or blanked-off plastic parts with a crisp casting with open inlet openings.
The MiG-21 was a Soviet single-engine supersonic fighter with a delta wing and one of the most widespread jet fighters in history. The two-seat trainer versions with tandem cockpits served to train pilots and had a modified fuselage spine and a different layout of small scoops and antennas compared with the single-seat machines.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the scoops with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and watch their orientation. Test the fit dry before painting.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
