Acura-Honda NSX NA1, the export form: a 3D-printed interior 1:24

An accessory from the Quinta Studio brand for a model of the NSX sports car of the NA1 generation in 1:24 scale, specifically for its export form. It is not a kit of a car but a set of colored interior features that, according to the name, are printed three-dimensionally and laid on decal paper. Thanks to them the inside of the model gains a three-dimensional and color-matched look without the laborious hand painting of small detail. It is based on the dimensions of the Tamiya kit.

The real subject

The NSX went into production in 1990 and was unusual for its day: an aluminum monocoque body, a six-cylinder engine mounted amidships behind the crew and variable valve timing. The car was created with the ambition of combining the performance of a sports car with everyday usability and reliability, which earned it a reputation as the best-handling car in its class. On the North American market it was sold under the Acura brand and on the home Japanese market under the Honda brand: it is precisely this split that the pair of sets corresponds to, of which this one is intended for the export form.

Usage tips

• Paint the surfaces under the interior in a base tone and let them dry thoroughly.
• Transfer the small features with tweezers, not with your fingers.
• Go by the manufacturer's instructions and work from the largest parts to the smallest.
• Do not use decal softener or setting solution; the chemicals would damage the print.
• A matte varnish at the end evens the sheen of the whole interior out.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the NSX with its doors open or the roof removed and want the interior to stand up to close inspection. Those who would rather avoid hand-painting instrument panels and upholstery will appreciate it as well.
