Red Fox Studio makes three-dimensional decals of instrument panels and interior panels which are plastic in relief and already in color. They are stuck directly onto the parts of a plastic kit and take the place of painting dials, levers and placards by hand. It is not a kit of the aircraft, but an accessory used during the build of a model. In the large 1:24 scale the cockpit dominates the whole model, so detailing pays off especially markedly. Check the exact contents of the package on the packaging. The set is cut for the Airfix kit.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a single-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy of the Second World War, powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine. The F6F-5 version was the late and most widespread variant with a range of partial changes to the airframe and the equipment. A robust structure, good endurance and easy handling made the Hellcat a key fighter type of the Pacific theater. The cockpit has the typical American layout with a large central instrument panel and richly fitted side panels.
Degrease the base, spray the cockpit parts with the base interior color and let them cure fully. Move the pieces with sharp tweezers and seat them calmly, as the scope for correction is limited. Before sticking them down, lay the set on dry and check how it sits on the particular parts. The procedure for three-dimensional decals differs from that for classic wet decals, so go by the instructions enclosed in the package. Once dry, the interior is unified with a fine dark wash into the recesses and a matte varnish.
The package holds only decals. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
