Masks for the glazing and national insignia of the Hawker Hurricane Mk IIC, the cannon version of the British fighter, with decals in the package.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hurricane had the structure of an older generation: a truss fuselage covered with fabric at the rear, a thick wing and a high-set cockpit. It is exactly that high cockpit with its pronounced fixed front section and angular sides that is the key to a model, because it takes up a large part of the silhouette. The Mk IIC version exchanged the machine guns for four twenty-millimeter cannons and served mainly as a night fighter and an attack machine.
The larger the model, the longer the frames of the canopy and the more visible every hesitation of the hand. In one thirty-second a small inaccuracy is lost; in one twenty-fourth it creates a visibly crooked line. A precisely cut mask removes that problem, because the edge is determined by the cut, not by a brush. That is also why masking sets catch on in the large scales sooner than in the small ones.
The fabric rear of the aircraft calls for a different approach to painting than the metal nose, because the texture of the ribs is emphasized under the paint. Masking the cockpit is therefore only the first step of a longer procedure.
The design came about back in the days of biplanes and its thick wing carried noticeably more fuel and armament than the slimmer machines of the time. For a modeler that means large continuous areas on which shading works excellently and on which even small irregularities stand out. Anyone who wants a smooth surface should therefore pay attention to sanding the seams before he gets to the paint. The finished cockpit is covered again at that stage, so it pays to keep the masks that have been taken off.
The kit itself is not in the package.
