Cut films for the cockpit hood of the cannon-armed Hurricane in the large 1:24 scale. It can be painted from the face and the reverse, and three insignia masks are enclosed.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mark II C meant the end of machine-gun armament on the Hurricane. Eight rifle-caliber guns of .303 were replaced by four twenty-millimeter Hispano cannons and the nimble fighter of the Battle of Britain became a heavy night hunter, which in 1941 and 1942 hunted trains, trucks and airfields over occupied Europe. The fuselage kept its old-world structure: a steel truss covered with fabric, that is something which by then already seemed quite archaic.
Patience is a mistake here. The film peels off best while the paint has gone off but is not yet fully cured, usually a few hours after the last coat. If the mask stays for a week, the paint thickens over its edge and during peeling a serrated ridge is torn from the edge. Take it off at a sharp angle back over itself, never straight up, and use the tip of a scalpel only to lift a corner. Pull the film toward the edge of the part, not across the freshly painted middle.
Inside you will find masks for the cockpit glazing from the outer and the inner side and three masks for the national insignia. The markings are sprayed onto finished camouflage, so it is sensible to leave them until the end, when it is clear where exactly they will come out on the fabric side. The film holds even on a slightly curved surface, but press it down onto the edge of the canopy with a finger so that no roll of air is left anywhere.
