A sizeable injection-molded plastic kit of the German Junkers Ju-87D-5 Stuka dive bomber in the large 1:24 scale from the maker Trumpeter. It is a big and richly broken-down model with engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit and gunner's position, a broken-down engine, separate movable surfaces (flaps, ailerons, elevator, rudder), detailed landing gear bays and both bomb and rocket armament. The Ju 87 Stuka was a symbol of the German Blitzkrieg: a dive bomber with its characteristic inverted gull wing and the sirens that wailed during a diving attack. The Ju 87D version was a late stage of development with an aerodynamically reworked fuselage and a more powerful engine; the D-5 had a lengthened and strengthened wing and additional armor for attacks on ground targets. It was deployed above all on the Eastern Front.
The large 1:24 scale means a great many parts, so work through the instructions and let the subassemblies (engine, cockpit, landing gear) dry thoroughly. Paint the interior and bring out its detail before you close up the fuselage. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, and glue the large glazing with cement for clear parts. After the gloss coat and the decals, accentuate the panel lines with a wash; a large model will carry even stronger weathering, mud and dust from field airstrips.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
