An injection-molded plastic kit of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren in 1:24 scale from Tamiya: the road-going supercar with openable gullwing doors and a cast metal underbody.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya represents the road-going supercar Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The model faithfully renders the elegant body with its long nose. The gullwing doors can be fixed in the open position to reveal the well-worked interior, and the hood opens to expose the detailed supercharged V8. A cast metal underbody panel gives the model a pleasant weight and comes finished in satin black. The box also holds metal parts, masking templates and decals.
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren revived the legend of the SLR letters and made its debut in 2003. It combined a light carbon fiber monocoque, striking styling and a powerful supercharged 5.5-liter V8. The car was created in cooperation with McLaren and was equally at home on the track and on the road: it represented a new generation of the premium supercar.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Build the gloss body over a primer, paint it in thin coats, lay on a clear coat and polish it to a high gloss. Degrease the metal underbody panel and use cyanoacrylate glue to bond it to the plastic, because ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Use the enclosed masks for clean window frames. Seat the gullwing doors carefully so that they hold in the open position. Glue the glazing with adhesive for clear parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
