An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern MINI Cooper S Countryman All4 in 1:24 scale. It is a special release from the Japanese firm Hasegawa in which, according to the name, there is a figure of a girl in a school uniform besides the car.
The MINI Countryman is the tallest and roomiest member of the modern MINI range, a five-door crossover with a higher body. The Cooper S version uses a turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder, and the All4 designation means all-wheel drive, which made the Countryman the first MINI with that layout. Even at its enlarged dimensions the car kept the marque's typical features: short overhangs, strongly outlined wheels and a hexagonal radiator grille.
A modern MINI lives and dies by the contrast between the body and the fittings. Spray the body over a smooth primer and finish with gloss varnish; handle the roof and the mirrors separately, because they tend to be in a different shade. The window frames and the radiator grille call for precise masking, and thin tape is better here than a free hand. Paint the figure separately from the car and with a different technique: first smooth transitions on the face and the hands, and only then the sharp edges of the clothing. In a cabinet the car with the figure then looks like a scene rather than a standalone model, which also suits a simple base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
