The Galant GTO is the coupe with which Mitsubishi signed up to the American pony car style at the beginning of the 1970s. A sloping tail with a sharply kinked edge, a long hood and a short cabin gave the car a shape that had been unusual in Japanese production until then. The 2000GSR designation belonged to the most powerful form of the line with a two-liter inline four-cylinder; the sportier suspension tuning and the equipment matched the top of the range. The front spoiler is one of the distinguishing features by which the individual forms of the GTO are told apart, which is why Hasegawa issues the kits with different aerodynamic additions as separate boxes.
With Japanese coupes of the 1970s, the result comes from the interplay of paint, chrome and fine trim. Carefully clear the body of mold seams, apply a primer and spray the paint in thin coats; at the end varnish and polish it. Either mask the chrome trim and window frames or deal with them with a fine brush and a steady hand. Finish the interior, the dashboard and the chassis before you close the body up. Fit the front spoiler only after the finish is complete, so that the transition does not get clogged with paint. Lay the decals on a glossy surface.
