A plastic kit from the Japanese brand Aoshima in 1:24 scale. The real subject is the Nissan Skyline GT-R of the R34 generation with the factory code BNR34, specifically the V-Spec II version of 2002. The addition Custom Wheel in the name means that the package is built around an alternative set of wheels; the exact execution of the rims and tires is given on the box of the kit, along with the number of parts and the decal schemes.

The real subject

The Skyline GT-R with the code BNR34 was made from 1999 to 2002 and was the last car of this line before a long pause. Under the hood works the turbocharged RB26DETT inline six of 2.6 liters, and the power goes to all four wheels through a drive system that redistributes torque between the axles as needed. The V-Spec II version appeared in the autumn of 2000 and differed from the basic form in its stiffer chassis tuning, stronger brakes and a lighter hood with an air intake. Its massive rear wing and wide fenders made it one of the most frequently built Japanese subjects.

Building and painting tips

On a road car the quality of the finish decides the result. First rid the body of mold seams, go over it with a primer-filler and build the paint up in thin layers; only a smooth gloss will take decals without silvering. Finish the engine bay and the interior before you close the body up, because after that you will not reach them. Glue the glazing only with a cement intended for clear parts, otherwise the plastic will cloud.
