A plastic kit of the Nissan Skyline of the R31 generation in the GTS-R version, issued by the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa as a separate package with the Custom Version designation. Hasegawa keeps this type in several packages that differ in the treatment of the car and in the decals, and this is the variant aimed at a modified, more sportingly tuned configuration. The kit is injection-molded plastic in 1:24 scale and is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Skyline of the R31 generation was built from the middle of the 1980s, and the GTS-R version was its peak: a limited homologation series that opened the door for Nissan into Group A circuit events. Under the hood worked a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine of the RB family with a displacement of two liters, with a revised intake and exhaust tract and a larger turbocharger, and the body was completed by a more prominent front spoiler. The circuit R31s were among the familiar faces of Japanese racing in the second half of the 1980s, before the following Skyline generation took over from them. The road-going GTS-R remained a rare piece, because only a limited number were built to meet the homologation conditions.
The boxy body of the R31 has long flat surfaces on which every ripple in the paint shows, so a primer, a check of the surface against the light and thin coats of color are in order. Mask the glazing with foil and glue it carefully with a thin cement or with a cement for clear parts, so that it does not fog. The chrome window frames are a prominent feature on this generation, and they come out best from a thin strip of metallic foil. Set the wheels and the interior apart by their degree of gloss, and apply any fine shade of dust in the wheel arch at the very end, so that it does not spoil the cleanliness of the paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
