A finished instrument panel in 1:24 for the Spitfire Mk.I in the early version from Yahu Models will take the place of the plastic part from the kit with a panel rendered in color.
Responsibility details are not available.
A finished instrument panel, rendered in color at the factory, for a large model of the Spitfire in 1:24 scale. It is neither a kit nor a decal: it is an accessory used in the cockpit in place of the plastic part from the kit, or on top of it.
The larger the scale, the more of the cockpit is visible. On a model in 1:24 the viewer looks straight at the instrument panel through a lifted canopy, so every shortcoming shows on it: smudged dials, overpainted bezels, illegible scales. Painting that many small instruments with a brush is several evenings of work and the result stands or falls with a steady hand. A finished panel gets round that step: the colors and the drawing of the instruments are done at the factory and the modeler deals only with seating the part.
The procedure is short, but it pays not to hurry. First try the plastic part from the kit dry and, if need be, sand away the relief of the instruments, so that the panel seats flat and does not lift. Glue it in spots with cyanoacrylate, preferably a thicker or gel type; thin glue will fog the dials with its fumes overnight. Solvent cements for plastic have no place on a finished panel; they would attack the factory color. Once it is seated, do not varnish the cockpit with matte over the instruments: the dial glazing is to stay gloss, otherwise the panel loses its depth.
This is an accessory for building a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
