1:24 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc - Instrument Panels from Red Fox Studio brings finished color gauges with raised edges to the cockpit of the famous British fighter. Target kit: Airfix.
Responsibility details are not available.
This printed set from Red Fox Studio lifts the level of the interior without hand painting. The gauges have color dials and raised edges, they are transferred on a carrier film and once in place they look three-dimensional even seen close up. It is not an aircraft kit but a finishing element for a model. The difference against bare plastic is best seen in shots with shallow depth of field. The set is intended for the Airfix kit.
The Mark IX came about as a quick answer to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190, which in 1941 overran the previously successful Mk.V. A Merlin with a two-stage two-speed supercharger was built into the existing airframe and the fighter at once won back its superiority at altitude. The letter c in the designation belongs to the universal wing, which could carry a combination of cannons and machine guns as the unit required. More than five thousand were built, and British, Polish and Czechoslovak pilots sat in them.
First try out dry exactly where the elements belong, and only then reach for the knife. The surface has to be dry and free of grease from fingers. Take the small parts by the edge, not by the printed face. Once everything fits, darken the surrounding frame so the instruments optically come forward.
