A masking set for painting the large model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII in 1:24 scale, intended according to the name for Airfix kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spitfire Mk.VIII was a later variant of the British fighter, meant mainly for the overseas fronts. It had a two-stage supercharged engine, a strengthened airframe structure and a retractable tail wheel. A model in 1:24 scale has a span at which every inaccuracy in the boundary of the finish shows at first glance, and masking thus becomes one of the main steps of the build.
The set contains masks for painting the model. They are cut to shape, so tape does not have to be laboriously cut on the part itself and the line comes out the same width along its whole length. They are used where the transition between shades is to be sharp, typically on the frames of the glazing. The extent of the set is in the manufacturer's instructions; according to the name it is prepared for Airfix kits.
The surface must be dry, smooth and degreased. Lay the mask down, press the edges and only then spray, always before the next shade is applied. Apply the paint in several thin coats perpendicular to the surface, because an angled spray runs under the edge. Once it has dried, take the mask off with tweezers with a pull at an angle to the side; the longer the mask stays on the model, the harder it is to remove.
The package contains a masking set. The kit, paints and thinner are not included, unless stated otherwise.
