1:24 Toyota Celica 1600GT Custom Version is a Hasegawa plastic kit in 1:24 scale with parts for a racing-tuned body conversion.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Custom Version release adds parts for a racing body conversion to the basic Celica model, namely flared fenders, a front spoiler and a rear wing. The body is molded in white plastic, so the color scheme is entirely in your own hands. The manufacturer is the Japanese company Hasegawa and the scale is 1:24.
The Celica arrived at the start of the 1970s as a coupe meant to offer home-market customers a sporty look and the chance to adapt the car to their own taste. The 1600GT sat at the top of the range and was powered by a 1.6-liter engine with twin overhead camshafts. The car quickly caught on in racing and among young drivers, and to this day it belongs among the icons of the Japanese car scene. The fashion for wide fenders and spoilers that the Custom Version recalls comes from exactly this period.
Test-fit the flared fenders dry before you reach for the glue, and sand the transitions if needed so that no seam shows through after painting. The front spoiler and the wing hold best if you make a small pin for them from wire. Spray the paint in thin coats and leave plenty of time between them; sanding between coats decides the final gloss more than the paint itself. We recommend finishing the interior before you close up the body.
The package holds the kit unpainted and unassembled; glue, paints and other supplies are bought separately, unless stated otherwise.
