Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the first generation Toyota Celica in the 1600GT version with the factory code TA22-MQ, in 1:24 scale from Hasegawa. The addition in the name concerns the wheels: this box covers the car with production steel wheels, that is in the form in which it was sold, not in the later sporting version with light alloy wheels. It is an injection-molded plastic kit for gluing.
The Celica was introduced at the end of 1970 and was a new type of car for Toyota, a two-door coupe that the customer put together from a list of engines and trim levels. The 1600GT version received a 1.6-liter engine with twin overhead camshafts, the sharpest unit in the range, and it was this version that built the sporting reputation of the brand. The body shape with its strongly sculpted flanks and low tail is today a classic of Japanese design of the 1970s.
A coupe with smooth flanks calls for careful sanding of the parting lines, because every trace would show through gloss paint. Lay the color on in thin coats over a primer and let it cure before polishing. Deal with the chrome frames and strips separately and fit them only once the paint is finished. The steel wheels are characteristic of this version, so it is worth spending time on them; the hub cap and the rim often differ in shade. Glue the glazing on at the end with a cement that will not fog clear parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
