An injection-molded plastic kit of the German reconnaissance aircraft Focke-Wulf Fw 189 in 1:48 scale from Great Wall Hobby. This special release (Sonderaktion) is conceived as a combination of the A-1 and A-2 versions with options for the Nachtjäger night role and with the possibility of building the machine on skis. The box offers several options, including various national markings. It is a well made kit with richly detailed cockpit glazing. The Focke-Wulf Fw 189 Uhu was a German twin-engined, twin-boom reconnaissance and observation aircraft of the Second World War with a characteristic glazed central nacelle that was nicknamed the flying eye. It was used mainly for tactical reconnaissance, artillery spotting and liaison duties, especially on the Eastern Front. Some of the machines were reworked for the night role and for operating in winter conditions. Thanks to the excellent view from the cabin and its good handling it was popular with its crews.
The extensive glazing of the nacelle is the visual centerpiece of the model - paint and pick out the cabin and the interior carefully before closing it up, and mask the clear glazing while spraying. Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and bring out the engraved lines with a wash. Fit the underwing stores and the skis, if you use them, according to the option you have chosen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
