About product

The Toyota Corolla Levin AE92, Sugo circuit 1989, 1:24 scale

A plastic kit of the circuit Toyota Corolla Levin of the AE92 generation in the version from the Japanese Touring Car Championship, season 1989, the event at the Sugo circuit. Scale 1:24, issued by Nunu Models in its racing range. It is a modern tooling, so the model matches today's standard of part breakdown and fidelity of shape.

The real subject

The Corolla Levin of the AE92 generation was built in the second half of the 1980s as a compact coupe and liftback with front-wheel drive. In the Japanese Touring Car Championship it started in the lowest displacement class up to 1600 cubic centimeters, where small, light, high-revving cars fought battles of their own inside a field full of more powerful machines. The 1989 season was among the most closely followed in this class, and the cars with numbers 6 and 7 were a fixture of it. The Sugo circuit in Miyagi Prefecture is a short, hilly and technical track on which small cars did well. You will recognize a racing Levin by its wide fenders, low stance and striking color scheme with the logos of technical partners.

Building and painting tips

A circuit special stands or falls on the paint and the decals. Spray filler primer, sand it down, apply the base color and add gloss varnish before the decals, as otherwise silvering will appear under the edges of the decals. Apply the large areas with plenty of water and decal softener and press them to the body with a soft cloth, not with a finger. Do the interior with the roll cage and the racing seat before you close the body. Finally unify the whole model with semi-matte varnish and only gently suggest use, as circuit cars stayed clean, with no mud.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Japanese circuit touring cars in 1:24 scale
  • Fans of the era of group-based production classes of the end of the 1980s
  • Modelers who want to play with paint and decals
  • Builders looking for a compact model for a smaller display case

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
