The second-generation Volkswagen Transporter, known among fans of the marque as the T2, followed on from the first series in the second half of the 1960s. It is told from its predecessor above all by a one-piece windshield instead of a split one, a taller cab and a reworked front end. The engine stayed at the rear, an air-cooled flat-four driving the rear axle. The vehicle was supplied in dozens of forms from a panel van through a glazed minibus to a flatbed and became a working machine for tradesmen just as much as an icon of leisure culture.
The click-together joints are accurate, but it still pays to try the parts dry and to level the remains of the gates carefully. The body has large smooth areas on which every irregularity shows, so sand it with very fine abrasive paper before painting and apply a filler primer. You will manage a two-tone finish divided by a horizontal molding with masking tape: spray the lighter shade first, let it cure thoroughly and only then mask. Before applying the decals, coat the area with gloss varnish, and once it has dried even the surface out with matte or semi-matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The parts of the easy-click system are joined without glue; paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
