A dipping ink from the Green Stuff World brand in a package of 60 ml. It differs from an ordinary paint already in the way it is worked with: it is not spread over an area in a thin layer, but laid on generously so as to flood the whole relief at once. The Deep Black shade is the darkest anchor in this group, so it gives the sharpest difference between lit peaks and shaded recesses.
The result is decided by the shape of the surface, not by the modeler's hand. A generous dose of ink redistributes itself after application - little of it stays on the raised places, while it runs into the grooves, joints and folds and gathers there. That is where the layer is thickest and the shade most saturated, so the plasticity of the shape stands out by itself. That is the main difference from a wash: a wash is carried deliberately into a chosen line, whereas a dipping ink goes over the whole part and finds the shadow for itself.
