About product

Hexagonal nuts with washers 0.7 mm from GAS HANS

Miniature hexagonal nuts with a washer, 0.7 mm in size, from GAS HANS. These are standalone detail parts with which you replace simplified bolt work on a model or fill in places where the kit has no detail at all. It is neither a kit nor a set tied to one particular model, but a universal material for the modeling bench.

What it is used for

Conspicuous bolt work is found on real machinery wherever something is taken apart regularly or wherever the joints are under heavy load: on gearbox and engine covers, on flanges, on the mountings of gun carriages and crane jibs, on the frames of heavy chassis and on railroad equipment. On a model such a place draws the eye, and so it is worth more than an engraved ring from the mold. A hexagon with a washer casts a shadow, keeps its shape even after painting and carries the scale of the whole scene when seen close up.

Usage tips

The 0.7 mm dimension is among the larger ones on offer and comes into its own mainly where the bolt work is meant to be prominent, that is in the larger scales, on heavy machinery and on open mechanical assemblies. Work with fine tweezers, good light and a steady surface. The parts are set one at a time, usually with a minute drop of cyanoacrylate applied on the tip of a piece of wire. Before you start, lay out the spacing, because irregularity shows at first glance with larger parts. You can paint them once the glue has dried completely, together with the rest of the model.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers of heavy machinery and industrial equipment in the larger scales
  • Builders of dioramas with industrial and construction equipment
  • Modelers who detail open engines and gearboxes
  • Anyone interested in prominent, clearly visible bolt work

Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package.

FAQ

Where the bolt work is meant to be prominent and clearly visible, that is mainly in the larger scales, on heavy machinery and on open mechanical assemblies.

Most often on engine and gearbox covers, on flanges, on the mountings of gun carriages and jibs and on the frames of heavy chassis.

One at a time, with a minute drop of cyanoacrylate applied on the tip of a piece of wire. Fine-tipped tweezers and good light make the work much easier.

You do not. They are usually painted together with the rest of the model, once the glue has dried completely.
