An accessory set from the Rye Field Model brand meant for improving a model of the German Leopard 2A7 main battle tank in 1:35. It holds photo-etched, metal and three-dimensionally printed parts that replace or supplement the detail which cannot be made fine enough in plastic. It is not a kit of the tank but an accessory for a model you have already bought.
The Leopard 2A7 is the most modern development branch of the German Leopard 2 tank, adapted for use in built-up areas as well as in open terrain. Against the earlier versions it has improved protection, including add-on modules on the sides of the hull, and revised interior equipment for long deployments of the crew. The smoothbore 120 mm gun and the characteristic wedge-shaped turret remain. It is precisely on modern tanks that a great deal of the detail is thin and broken up, from grilles and covers through brackets to a small handle, so a photo-etched set shows in the result more markedly than on simpler subjects.
Cut the photo-etched parts on a hard surface and sand the edges so that no burr is left anywhere. Make the bends over a metal rule or in a bender, or the sheet will crack at the fold. For gluing to plastic, cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) applied with a stick or a piece of wire in tiny drops works best. Degrease the whole model before painting and use a good primer, because without one the paint will not hold on smooth metal. Cut the three-dimensionally printed parts away from their supports carefully and rather in stages.
This is an accessory set, not a model on its own. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
