A large collector plastic model of a carbine from the AR-15/M16/M4 family, specifically the M4 variant with the R.I.S. rail handguard, in the unusual scale of 1:3 from the manufacturer Trumpeter. It is not a working weapon but a detailed non-firing model intended to be built and displayed; a stand for display is in the box as well.
The M4 is the shortened carbine derivative of the M16 rifle and the standard weapon of many armies. The R.I.S. variant (Rail Interface System) has a handguard with mounting rails for optics, lights, grips and other accessories, which makes it the modular platform of the modern infantryman. The controls, the front sight and the collapsible stock match the real subject.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and clean up the mold seams. You will reach a faithful look with a combination of matte black and metal shades; bring out the wear of the edges and the sheen of the metal with a dry brush. The large scale rewards careful clean-up and a matte coat.
