The model comes from the Creator Works line of the Japanese firm Hasegawa, in which subjects from Japanese science fiction appear, that is ships and machines of a kind not found among ordinary kits. The exact contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are given in the enclosed instructions.
Crusher Joe is a Japanese science fiction property whose world rests on the crews of so-called crushers, who take on dangerous commissions across the inhabited universe. The Cordoba is one of the ships of this universe. The 1:300 scale puts the model among the larger pieces of the line, in which further ships and machines from the same world also appear, so a collection can be built up gradually around a single theme.
Separate the parts from the sprues with nippers and sand down the remains of the gates, so that no stub is left on an edge. Glue with thin cement for polystyrene, which is drawn into the joint by capillary action and leaves no run marks. With spacecraft the approach that works is to go from the base up: first primer, then the covering shade sprayed with an airbrush, and finally a fine highlighting of the edges and of the divisions of the hull in a lighter tone. Varnish the surfaces with gloss before the decals, and once they are dry even the surface out with a matte or semi-gloss top coat. The large smooth areas of the hull will repay careful filling of the seams.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
