Which machines the KK-2 designation belongs to

The KK-2 type is a continuation of the Soviet line of ejection seats and you will find it in the cockpits of the MiG-17 and MiG-19 fighters, and by extension of their Chinese-built counterpart the Shenyang J-6. That one, incidentally, was produced considerably longer than the original Soviet pattern and in some countries it flew into the new millennium. Compared with the older rendition the seat has more elaborate protection of the pilot while he leaves the machine, which is clearly apparent in the shape of the headrest and of the seat bolsters.

Building recommendation

Seat the seat only after the cockpit tub has been finished and lacquered, otherwise you will not manage without touching up the paint in the narrow space. The seat pan will benefit from a different shade and a fine accentuation of the seams, so that it separates in material from the supporting structure. In 1:32 scale it also pays to suggest the wear in the places where the pilot climbed into the cockpit. Leave the colored handles and safety pins until the very end, because you would easily rub them off during further handling.
