The Quinta Studio set is 3D printed directly onto decal paper and is supplied already painted. These are not resin parts to be glued but a decal with a real thickness and three-dimensional relief, applied the wet way. The set is cut for the Trumpeter kit in 1:32 scale. Because this is a two-seat aircraft with a richly equipped cockpit, the item is among the more extensive sets of the line. A reduced version marked as Small version is made as well; the exact designation tells them apart, so check which variant you want before ordering.
The Grumman A-6 Intruder was an American carrier-borne attack aircraft with two turbojets, meant for precise all-weather strikes. The A-6A version was the first production form. Its characteristic feature is the cockpit with two seats side by side, where the right place belonged to the navigator and weapon systems officer, with his seat set slightly back and lower. That layout is the key one for modelers: the cockpit is wide, well visible under the large glazing and full of instruments, so a colored three-dimensional interior shows in it to the full.
Spray the cockpit area with a dark base color. Cut the elements out with a sharp scalpel, soak them in warm water and slide them into place; the position can be adjusted with a brush and water and the excess moisture blotted away with a cotton swab. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, because their chemistry would damage the printed resin and ruin the element. Only press the element down with a soft brush and do not run the brush over the surface, or the relief risks smearing or tearing. On curved areas work in two stages with drying in between. Even the finished interior out with a matte varnish and bring the dials to life with a drop of gloss varnish.
This is an accessory set, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
