The most extensive grade of a masking set in the large 1:32 scale from New Ware. It is neither a kit nor a model of the helicopter but an accessory for painting. The templates are cut from Japanese kabuki paper, that is, from thin washi paper with a gentle adhesive. The paper bends well around rounded surfaces and leaves no adhesive residue behind when removed. In the New Ware range the EXPERT grade stands above the smaller BASIC grade, which is also offered for the same subject.
The AH-1G was the first production machine designed from the start as an attack helicopter. It took over the drivetrain and rotor system of the UH-1 but received an entirely new, exceptionally narrow fuselage with the crew seated in tandem and with short stub wings. The divided cockpit glazing with its many frames is characteristic. In the large 1:32 scale every inaccuracy in the framing shows at once, which is why it pays to reach for accurately cut masks.
Degrease the areas before applying the masks. Lift the masks with tweezers, seat them accurately and press the edge down along its whole length with a stick or a toothpick. Spray several thin coats; on a sharp transition it helps to spray the edge with the shade of the base first. Remove the masks shortly after the paint has dried. Sort the small pieces in advance and work over a light-colored surface.
This is an accessory for painting, not a kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package. Check before you buy that the set matches the kit you want to use it on.
