The Plusmodel 1:32 Vickers aircraft machine gun is a detailed accessory depicting an onboard gun in 1:32 scale. It serves to replace or supplement the armament on a model; the aircraft itself is not in the box.
The Vickers was a British water-cooled machine gun that in its aircraft form lost the water jacket and received a lightened perforated jacket over the barrel. It was mounted fixed in front of the pilot and fired through the turning propeller thanks to gun synchronizing gear. A pair of these guns on the upper fuselage decking is one of the most typical images of British First World War fighters. The arrangement of the armament nonetheless differed considerably from type to type.
Fit the gun only once the fuselage has been sprayed, so that the fine raised details do not clog with paint. Check the angle and the clearance from the canopy against period photographs of the machine you are building. The metal look is best built up at the end and only lightly, because an exaggerated sheen looks unnatural in a small scale. Bring out the perforations of the jacket with shadow in the recesses rather than with light on the edges; the structure then stays readable from a distance and the gun does not go flat.
