1:32 Avro Lancaster B Mk.I Insignia And Numbers Paint Mask Set is a set of self-adhesive stencils for spraying the roundels, code letters and serial numbers of the British bomber. The marking thus arises directly in paint, without a decal carrier film.

The set contains three sheets of pre-cut stencils in fine masking tape. It covers the RAF national insignia, the squadron code letters and the serial numbers of the Avro Lancaster B Mk.I heavy bomber in the large 1:32 scale. The tape is semi-transparent, so the surface underneath is visible while seating it, it follows the rounded areas of the fuselage well and after careful removal it leaves no traces.
A decal always has a carrier film, which shows through on a matte finish and in a large scale is all the more conspicuous the greater the area the marking takes up. A sprayed marking lies directly in the paint film, it can be sanded, chipped and weathered just like the rest of the finish, so it comes across as part of the machine.
Let the base cure thoroughly, as otherwise the tape will pull the paint away when removed. Press the stencils down around their whole perimeter, so that thinner does not run under the edge, and spray in several very thin passes at right angles to the edge of the mask. With narrow letters it helps to lay a layer of the base shade first, which seals the edge. Take the mask off before the paint fully hardens, at a sharp angle.
This is an accessory for painting; the paints and the kit itself are not included in the package.
