The masking set B-24J Liberator Insignia And Numbers in 1:32 scale supplies pre-cut shapes of the national insignia and fuselage numbers, with which you replace the decals from the box.
Responsibility details are not available.
The star in a circle has a diameter on a 1:32 bomber at which the carrier film of a decal can no longer be hidden. On a matte finish it shines, on a riveted surface it lifts and over panel seams it cracks. Two sheets of masks from DN Models get around that problem by spraying the marking directly onto the metal.
The J version was built in greater numbers than any other rendition of the type and became the backbone of daylight bombing over Europe and in the Pacific alike. It brought a forward powered turret and revised equipment, so it differs from the earlier machines in silhouette as well. That is exactly why the marking is dealt with separately for this variant and cannot be carried over from other versions without thought.
Spray multicolored insignia in layers from the lighter to the darker and give the surface a rest between steps. Seat the numerals along a guide line drawn in pencil, as otherwise they will scatter along the length of the fuselage. A sprayed marking also takes subsequent chipping and sanding, so you can allow yourself pronounced weathering.
These are sheets with masks; the model and paints are not included.
