1:32 Bf-108 Taifun TFace — Eduard mask set in 1:32 scale

A set of precisely pre-cut masking templates made of fine modeling masking tape, intended for building the Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun in 1:32 scale. The TFace designation in the name means that the set handles the glazing from both sides — the masks are applied to the outer and the inner surface, so the canopy framing looks clean even when seen from inside. It is made by the Czech company Eduard. It is not a model or a kit in its own right, but an accessory that comes into its own at the painting stage.

The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun was a German all-metal low-wing aircraft of the 1930s, originally designed as a sporting and touring machine for four people. It had retractable landing gear, automatic leading-edge slats and folding wings for easier storage. During the Second World War it served above all on liaison and courier duties, and after the war it was also built in France.

Usage tips

Lift the templates off the sheet with sharp tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and press them down with a toothpick so that they seat right into the corners of the frames. The surface has to be clean and degreased, otherwise the mask will not hold. Spray the paint in several thin coats — one heavy coat tends to run under the edge. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried; after a longer time it peels off less easily and can pull the finish with it. With two-sided masking it works well to paint the inner framing in the interior shade first and only then mask from the outside.
