This is a resin detail accessory from Aires, not an airplane model. The set replaces the simplified landing gear bays from a plastic kit with faithfully cast wheel bays of the P-40B and P-40C fighters, carrying fine relief of ribs, piping and spars. Once built in and painted it substantially raises the fidelity of the view into the space of the retracted landing gear.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War. The early P-40B and P-40C versions were among the first production batches and were deployed with Allied units on a number of fronts. They were powered by a V-type engine with a characteristic radiator beneath the nose.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks, wash them to remove the mold release agent and seat them in the wing or the fuselage according to the instructions; bond them with super glue. Airbrush painting of the bays is advisable, with the relief brought out with a fine wash and a dry brush.
The set is a detail accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
