A set of cut masks for the glazing and the wheels of the most widespread Gustav version in 1:32. The cut is derived from the Revell kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The G-6 version became the most widespread variant of the whole family. The factories turned out around twelve thousand of them, that is, more than all the other forms of the Gustav put together. Behind that number lay a simple thing: the new 13 mm machine guns did not fit under the cowling, and so prominent bulges grew over their breeches, which among pilots were known as the bumps. The aircraft paid for it with a piece of its speed, but in return it got firepower that could now threaten even a four-engine bomber.
With this version in particular it makes sense to think in advance about which example is being built. Machines intended against bomber formations carried gondolas with 20 mm cannons under the wings, which took away their agility, whereas examples used against fighters flew without them. The late production batches also received a different canopy shape, so the outline of the frames being masked differs from the early ones too.
The cut masks follow the outline of the frames on the glazing of the Revell model and are complemented by discs for the tires. A shape is cut separately for every frame, so nothing overlaps and nothing is laid on by eye.
Compared with tracing with adhesive tape, a ready-made cut has two advantages. The edge is equally sharp along its whole length, which the hand cannot keep up on a long frame, and the work takes minutes instead of an hour. On the wheels the most unpleasant part also falls away, namely the smooth transition between the rim and the rubber.
Paints, glue and the model itself are not included in the delivery; ordinary modeling equipment is assumed.
