A masking set for the Bf 109 K-4 in 1:32, cut for the kit from the brand Kotare.
Responsibility details are not available.
The K-4 version closes the long development line of the Bf 109 and reached the units in the autumn of 1944. Against older machines it received a more powerful engine with a higher boost pressure, a 30 mm cannon firing through the propeller hub and two heavy guns above the engine. Tall vertical tail surfaces and a cleanly shaped cockpit canopy make it an easily recognizable type.
The K-4 came about at the moment when German production was trying to unify diverging variants into a single standard. Production machines therefore differ less than on earlier versions, but the finishes tend to be varied: late camouflage, hastily oversprayed insignia and improvised additions are a rewarding subject for a modeler. It is precisely the large scale that carries details like that and rewards the effort.
The glazing of this version has intricate framing and in 1:32 every inaccuracy is visible at once. The paper parts are seated on the glass with tweezers, pressed down along the edges and lifted off again after spraying. That does away with cutting tape by hand, where the width of a frame comes out a little different every time. Clear the glass of fingerprints and grease before laying them on, otherwise a mask will not seat and paint will get under it. Lift it at the moment when the finish has not yet fully cured.
