The Quickboost 1:32 Bf 109F/G tropical filter, late form is a resin replacement part for the sand filter of the supercharger intake, for Messerschmitt Bf 109 models deployed in southern regions. It is a small accessory for a plastic kit.

A resin detail part from the Quickboost brand, made by the Czech firm Aires, in 1:32 scale. It is the sand filter that on Messerschmitt Bf 109s of the F and G versions was fitted ahead of the supercharger intake on the left side of the engine section for service in dusty regions. The form offered matches the later shape of the filter, which differs from the early type in the outline of the body and in the mounting. The part replaces the corresponding component from the kit or adds it where the kit does not have it at all. It is not an aircraft model but a single accessory.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 in the F and G versions also served from 1941 in the Mediterranean and in North Africa, where fine sand quickly destroyed the engine's supercharger. The machines therefore received a clip-on filter on the intake, informally called tropical. Its shape changed during production, so it is one of the distinguishing features by which the period and the theater of a particular machine can be determined. The filter noticeably changes the silhouette of the nose, which is why it is clearly visible on a model in 1:32 scale.
Wash the part in warm soapy water and carefully cut it off the casting block, best with a thin saw. Sand the inside of the intake mouth smooth and darken it, so that it does not look like a blind surface. It is bonded with super glue; putty and sand the transition to the fuselage, so that the seam does not show. Before fitting it, check against a reference photograph whether the late type of filter really belongs to the particular machine you are building. When painting, leave more pronounced dust weathering on the filter than on the rest of the airframe, as it was the dirtiest part in service.
The part is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is an accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
