Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set from Aires that replaces the wheels of the model of the Bücker Bü 131 in 1:32 scale with accurate castings and adds self-adhesive masks for painting the disc covers. It is not a kit and there is no model of the aircraft in the package. Compared with plastic parts, the cast wheels have a crisper tread pattern, finer lettering on the sidewall and above all a naturally flattened contact patch, so that a model on a base looks as though it really were standing on its wheels. The masks supplied make it possible to separate the color of the disc cover from the tire without drawing the line in by brush.
The Bücker Bü 131 is a single-engine two-seat biplane of the 1930s, a structurally simple trainer with fixed landing gear. On many machines the wheels were fitted with smooth disc covers, which make a prominent visual element — and that is exactly why a clean transition between the color of the cover and the tire pays off there. In 1:32 scale a wheel is a fairly large part, so the quality of its execution shows clearly on the finished model.
Wash the castings in warm water with a drop of dish soap and rid them of any mold release residue, otherwise the paint will not hold. The casting block is usually on the contact patch of the wheel — cut it off with a fine saw and sand the area wet until you get a flat seating. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Stick the mask down only onto a cured finish, press the edge with a toothpick and spray several thin coats; a single heavy coat will creep underneath. Lift the mask off shortly after the paint has set, pulling it back at a sharp angle to the surface.
The package holds only the wheels and the masks. The model, glue and paints are not part of it.
