Montex 1:32 Cessna L-19 / O-1 Bird Dog is a masking set for both sides of the glazing framing, with masks for national insignia added. An accessory for a kit, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet of self-adhesive masks is cut to the framing of the glazed areas of this observation aircraft and, according to the name, holds masks for national insignia as well. A model is not part of it; this is an accessory for a kit. The Bird Dog has glazing carried up over the heads of the crew and into the side doors, so the masked area is unusually large for the size of the aircraft.
The Cessna L-19, designated O-1 Bird Dog from the early 1960s, was a single-engine high-wing monoplane for observation, liaison and artillery spotting. It was derived from a civil design, and had a strut-braced wing, fixed tailwheel landing gear and extensive cabin glazing for the widest possible view. It served for decades with the US Army and in a number of other countries.
In a larger scale every mistake is more visible, so thorough preparation pays off. Wash the clear parts, degrease them and let them dry thoroughly, and only then apply the masks. Once they are on, go over all the edges with a blunt stick and spray them with the interior color. Apply the primer in a thin coat so that no step forms at the edge of a frame. Apply the national insignia masks only on cured covering paint.
The package holds masking templates only. The model, paints and glue are not included.
