The Decals Lozenge with linen effect 5 Color for upper surfaces sheet carries the five-color lozenge pattern for the upper surfaces of a model in 1:32.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet, the size of an A4 page, carries the lozenge camouflage pattern in a five-color rendition, complemented by a fine rendering of fabric. The printing is digital, on a transparent base and with no white component, so you influence the brightness of the resulting surface by how you underpaint the model.
In the First World War the German air service introduced covering fabric with a pre-printed polygonal pattern. It was a remarkably modern solution: instead of laborious spraying, the camouflage was supplied already in the fabric, which saved weight and time in the factory. For the upper surfaces a darker set of shades with green, brown and purple fields was used, so that the machine would merge with the landscape seen from above. The pattern was asymmetrical and repeated in a regular rhythm, so imitating it by hand is among the hardest tasks in modeling.
Work in strips in the direction in which the fabric was sewn on the real machine, and take care that the lozenges follow on from each other. Lift a paper template of every surface from the model and only cut to that. A softening solution will help the decal settle into the hollows between the ribs.
The pattern for the lower surfaces is issued separately and is not in this package.
