Painting masks for German and Allied insignia on the two-seat Dornier Do 335 A-12 in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Dornier Do 335 is among the most unusual aircraft of the Second World War. It had two piston engines arranged in tandem: one in the nose with a tractor propeller, the other in the rear fuselage with a pusher propeller behind the cruciform tail. The arrangement gave the machine the performance of a twin-engine aircraft without the drag of engine nacelles on the wing. The A-12 version was the two-seat training conversion with a second, higher-set instructor's seat. The type reached series production only to a small extent and the Allies tested several surviving machines after the war.
The set contains painting masks for the insignia, both German and Allied. It therefore covers both forms in which the aircraft appeared: in service and in test colors after being taken over. A sprayed marking has no glossy decal carrier film, and on the large surface of a model in 1:32 scale that is noticeable. The extent of the sheet and the exact placement of the individual elements are described in the manufacturer's instructions; before spraying, lay the masks on dry and compare them with the model.
First apply the base shade and let it cure. Only then lay the mask on, press its whole edge down and spray the paint in several thin layers. A heavy layer likes to run under and smears the edge. Remove the mask while the finish is fresh, and handle the elements with tweezers, so that they are not creased.
The set suits builders who want to spray the insignia, and those who build several versions of the same aircraft. The package contains masks; paints, glue and the kit itself are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
