An injection-molded plastic kit of the British English Electric Lightning fighter in the F.1A and F.3 versions in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The extensive kit offers a detailed cockpit, landing gear and armament and allows one of these versions to be built. Once assembled it yields a large and impressive model of a classic interceptor.
The Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor with the unusual arrangement of two jet engines stacked one above the other in the fuselage. It stood out for its exceptional rate of climb and was one of the fastest aircraft in British service of its day. It served with the Royal Air Force during the Cold War and was armed with air-to-air guided missiles.
Given the extent of the kit, work through the instructions section by section and first finish the cockpit and the landing gear bays. Glue with liquid cement for plastic and use a primer and an airbrush. Natural metal surfaces can be managed with metallic shades and gentle differentiation of the individual panels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
