This set belongs among exterior detailing accessories. Quinta Studio prints the elements three-dimensionally and directly in color onto decal paper, so that once applied a genuinely raised shape appears on the surface of the model, not merely printing. That is exactly what matters with reinforcement plates, because on the real aircraft these are overlapping sheets that form a visible step on a smooth surface. Imitating such detail by hand from foil or photo-etch is usually laborious; here it is solved by sticking it on.
The Grumman F-14 was a two-seat carrier-based fighter of the US Navy with a variable-geometry wing, two engines and twin vertical tails. Operating from the decks of aircraft carriers, catapult launches and arrestment by a wire mean high loads on the airframe, and that is why additional reinforcing sheets and repair patches appeared at exposed places on machines that had served for a long time.
Polish the surface under the decal and cover it with a gloss coat, so that no silvering occurs. Cut the parts away close to the edge and move them with a brush. On curved places press the decal down with a damp cotton swab so that it beds in. Do not use a decal softener, because its chemistry attacks the printed resin. Once everything has dried, unify the whole surface with a matte or satin coat, and only then apply panel shading and weathering, so that the reinforcements sit into the surrounding surface.
